Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

In Khmer, you cannot just say 'three cats'; you must use a classifier: 'cat three [classifier]'.

  • Structure: Noun + Number + Classifier (e.g., ឆ្មាបីក្បាល - Cat three [animal-classifier]).
  • Use 'នាក់' for people (e.g., មិត្តភក្តិពីរនាក់ - Friend two [person-classifier]).
  • Use 'ក្បាល' for animals (e.g., ឆ្កែមួយក្បាល - Dog one [animal-classifier]).
