In Lao, 'khap' is only used if you are the driver of a car. If you are a passenger or riding a bike/tuk-tuk, use 'khi'.

Wrong: ຂ້ອຍຂັບຕຸກຕຸກ (Khoy khap tuk tuk)
صحیح: ຂ້ອຍຂີ່ຕຸກຕຸກ (Khoy khi tuk tuk)

Lao puts the question word 'where' at the end of the sentence, not the beginning.

Wrong: ຢູ່ໃສສະຖານີ? (Yu sai sa tha ni?)
صحیح: ສະຖານີຢູ່ໃສ? (Sa tha ni yu sai?)

Confusing 'far' (ໄກ - kai) and 'near' (ໃກ້ - kāi) is common because they sound similar. Focus on the tone: low for far, high-falling for near.

Wrong: ມັນໃກ້ (Man kai - low tone)
