Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Serbian, short words called clitics (like 'sam', 'ga', 'mi') must sit in the second position of a sentence.
- Clitics cannot start a sentence: 'Ga vidim' is wrong; 'Vidim ga' is correct.
- Clitics cluster together in a specific order: Auxiliary + Dative + Accusative + Reflexive.
- The first position can be a single word or a whole phrase.
