아까 is an adverb, so it directly modifies verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. It doesn't need any particles attached to it.

아까 먹었어요. (I ate a little while ago.)

아까 is used for something that happened in the recent past, usually within the same day or a few hours ago.

아까 전화 왔어요. (A call came a little while ago.)

You can combine 아까 with other time expressions for more specificity, though it's often used on its own.

아까 낮에 만났어요. (We met earlier this afternoon.)

When asking about something that happened a short while ago, you can use 아까 in the question.

아까 뭐 했어요? (What did you do a little while ago?)

While similar to '방금' (just now), '아까' refers to a slightly longer duration in the past than '방금'. '방금' is more immediate.
