Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use the passive voice to focus on the action, and reported speech to relay what others have said.
- Passive: Use 'a fi' + past participle (e.g., 'Cartea este citită').
- Reported: Shift pronouns and verb tenses when relaying speech (e.g., 'El a spus că vine').
- Agreement: Ensure the past participle agrees in gender and number with the subject.
Meanings
The passive voice shifts focus from the doer to the object, while reported speech allows you to convey information from a third party.
Passive Voice
Focusing on the receiver of the action.
