Forming Positive Commands: Do It!

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

The Armenian imperative uses specific suffixes to tell someone to do something, changing based on whether you are talking to one or many.

  • Singular informal: Use the root or add -ir/-ar (e.g., 'karda' - read).
  • Plural/Formal: Add -ek/-ak to the stem (e.g., 'kardacek' - read).
  • Negative: Add 'mi' before the verb (e.g., 'mi karda' - don't read).
Verb Stem + (Suffix) = Command!
