Review Summary

  • Noun + [nothing]
  • Noun + -ны/-ні, -ды/-ді, -ты/-ті
  • Subject + Object + Verb

常见错误

In Kazakh, the verb must come at the end. Putting the object after the verb sounds like a direct translation from English.

Wrong: Мен жеймін алманы.
正确: Мен алманы жеймін.

You must follow vowel harmony and consonant rules. 'Кітап' ends in 'п' (voiceless), so it requires the 'т' version of the suffix (-ты).

Wrong: Мен кітапні оқимын.
正确: Мен кітапты оқимын.

If you are talking about a specific object that you are acting upon, you cannot leave it in the Nominative. You must use the Accusative.

Wrong: Мен алма жеймін. (when meaning 'the specific apple')
正确: Мен алманы жеймін.

Next Steps

You've just passed one of the biggest hurdles in learning any Turkic language. Understanding cases is like getting the keys to the kingdom. Keep practicing those endings!
