Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
To talk about the past in Kannada, add the past tense suffix to the verb stem based on the subject.
- Identify the verb stem: remove the -u from the infinitive (e.g., 'madu' -> 'mad').
- Add the past tense marker: usually -id- or -ad-.
- Attach the personal suffix: -enu (I), -e (you), -anu (he), -alu (she), -itu (it), -evu (we), -iri (you pl), -aru (they).
