  • [Subject] + [Verb] + gì?
  • [Subject] + ở + đâu?
  • [Subject] + là + ai?

常见错误

Vietnamese is SVO (Subject-Verb-Object). Do not move the question word to the front like in English.

Wrong: Gì bạn ăn?
正确: Bạn ăn gì?

Don't double up! 'Đâu' is already a question word. You don't need 'không' at the end.

Wrong: Bạn đi đâu không?
正确: Bạn đi đâu?

Make sure the person you are asking about is the subject. 'Bạn là ai' means 'Who are you'.

Wrong: Ai là bạn?
正确: Bạn là ai?
