Nominalization turns complex actions into single nouns to make your Bulgarian sound academic, professional, and concise.

  • Replace verbs with '-не' nouns: 'чета' becomes 'четене'.

🎯

The 'Na' Rule

If your noun comes from a verb that takes an object, you MUST use 'на'. Think of it as the glue that holds the action together.
⚠️

Don't Overdo It

In casual speech, too much nominalization makes you sound like a textbook. Use 'да' clauses for friends.
💬

Polite Requests

Using nominalization makes requests sound less demanding. 'Вашето съдействие' sounds better than 'Вие ми помогнете'.

Smart Tips

Change 'I am writing to ask...' to 'The reason for my writing is...'

Пиша ви, за да ви попитам... Целта на моето писане е...

Desafio

Bulgarian scholars prefer nominalization to show objectivity, distancing the researcher from the action.

Bulgarian verbal nouns in -не evolved from Old Church Slavonic -nĭje forms.
