Prepositions Governing Dative (k, prema, unatoč)
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
These three prepositions always require the Dative case, which usually ends in -u or -i.
- Use 'k' (to/towards) for people or institutions: Idem k liječniku (I am going to the doctor).
- Use 'prema' (towards/according to) for direction or opinion: Prema meni, to je dobro (According to me, that is good).
- Use 'unatoč' (despite) for contrast: Unatoč kiši, idemo van (Despite the rain, we are going out).
