Basic Adverbs: Quickly, Slowly, Well
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Armenian, adverbs usually come right before the verb to describe how an action is performed.
- Place the adverb immediately before the verb: 'Նա արագ վազում է' (He runs quickly).
- Adverbs do not change based on gender or number: 'Նրանք արագ վազում են' (They run quickly).
- Use 'լավ' for well, 'արագ' for quickly, and 'դանդաղ' for slowly.
Meanings
Adverbs of manner describe the quality or speed of an action. They modify the verb directly.
Speed
Describing the pace of an action.
“Նա արագ քայլում է (He walks quickly).”
“Մեքենան դանդաղ է գնում (The car goes slowly).”
Quality
Describing how well something is done.
“Նա լավ է խոսում հայերեն (He speaks Armenian well).”
“Դու լավ ես աշխատում (You work well).”
