Verbos de Movimento em Russo: Indo em uma direção (идти, ехать)

Use unidirectional verbs for 'one-way' trips happening now or as specific future plans, distinguishing between walking and driving.

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Use unidirectional verbs when you are moving in one specific direction right now or for a single completed trip.

  • Use 'идти' (to go on foot) for a specific, one-way trip: Я иду в школу (I am walking to school).
  • Use 'ехать' (to go by vehicle) for a specific, one-way trip: Мы едем в Москву (We are driving to Moscow).
  • These verbs describe a single, purposeful movement toward a destination, not a repeated habit.
Subject + Unidirectional Verb + Destination (в/на + Accusative)

Overview

How This Grammar Works

Os verbos unidirecionais focam no 'processo' de se mover em direção a um objetivo. Imagine uma cena de filme onde o protagonista caminha em direção ao pôr do sol. Esse é um verbo unidirecional.
Em inglês, frequentemente usamos o presente contínuo ('I am going') para isso. Em russo, usamos verbos como идти e ехать. A lógica é simples: se o movimento é de ida e está acontecendo agora, ou se é uma viagem específica que você está planejando, você usa o unidirecional.
Esses verbos são 'imperfectivos', o que significa que focam na ação em si, não na conclusão. No entanto, eles são especiais porque implicam uma única direção. Se você der meia-volta e voltar, o verbo geralmente muda.
É um pouco como uma placa de contramão em uma cidade movimentada. Você segue a seta. Se você tentar ir contra a seta, a polícia da gramática (ou apenas uma babushka russa confusa) notará.
Você também tem que escolher com base no 'modo' de transporte. Você está usando suas pernas? Use идти.
Está usando rodas, trilhos ou até um cavalo? Use ехать. Se você usar идти enquanto estiver em um ônibus, os russos pensarão que o ônibus está tão lento que você poderia muito bem ter ido a pé.
