Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'Lena' (to take) after the root of a verb to show that an action is done for one's own benefit.
- Attach 'Lena' to the stem of the main verb: 'Khana' (eat) becomes 'Kha lena' (eat for oneself).
- Conjugate only the second verb ('Lena') based on tense and subject: 'Main ne kha liya' (I ate it).
- Use this for actions that have a personal impact or are completed for yourself: 'Parh lena' (read for oneself).
