The 'White Shirt' tradition is non-negotiable. Even if a student doesn't like school, they will usually participate in signing shirts as a sign of solidarity. In the capital, the 'Korteji' (motorcade) is a major part of the day, often leading to traffic jams in the city center. In coastal regions, students often head to the beach after the ceremony to celebrate and take photos by the sea. While shared with other post-Soviet countries, the Georgian version is uniquely loud and involves traditional folk dancing in the school yard.
