Unreal Conditionals
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'ຖ້າ' (if) + 'ຫາກ' (if/suppose) + 'ໄດ້' (would) to talk about imaginary situations that aren't true right now.
- Use 'ຖ້າ' to start the condition: ຖ້າຂ້ອຍມີເງິນ (If I had money).
- Use 'ຄົງຈະ' or 'ໄດ້' to indicate the hypothetical result: ຂ້ອຍຄົງຈະຊື້ລົດ (I would buy a car).
- Keep the verb tense simple; Lao relies on context markers rather than complex conjugation.
