Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'Future-in-the-Past' to describe actions that were planned or expected to happen from the perspective of a past moment.
- Use the imperfect of 'ща' (щях) + 'да' + present tense: 'Щях да отида' (I was going to go).
- Negative form uses 'не' before the auxiliary: 'Не щях да отида' (I wasn't going to go).
- Questions invert the structure: 'Щеше ли да отидеш?' (Were you going to go?).

This tense expresses an action that was future relative to a point in the past. It is frequently used to explain plans that were interrupted or changed.
Unfulfilled Intention
An action that was planned but ultimately did not occur.

Past Prediction
A prediction made in the past about a future event.
“Казаха, че щеше да бъде топло.”
