The ke-an construction turns adjectives or verbs into abstract nouns, like adding '-ness' or '-ity' in English.
- Add 'ke-' prefix and '-an' suffix to a root word: 'baik' (good) becomes 'kebaikan' (goodness).
- Use it to describe a state or condition: 'keadaan' (the state/situation) from 'ada' (to exist).
- It can also denote a place or location: 'kedutaan' (embassy) from 'duta' (envoy).
