Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use this tense to talk about past actions that still matter right now because of their result or your experience.
- Combine the present tense of 'съм' (to be) with the -л participle: 'Аз съм чел' (I have read).
- Focus on the result, not the time: 'Изгубил съм си ключовете' (I've lost my keys - I don't have them now).
- Always include the auxiliary 'е' or 'са' in the 3rd person, unlike the renarrative mood.

Generally, no. If you specify a time like `вчера` (yesterday) or `миналата седмица` (last week), you should use the Past Simple. Use Present Perfect when the time is unknown or doesn't matter.
Without 'е', it becomes the Renarrative Mood, which means 'I heard he came (but I didn't see it)'. The 'е' confirms it as a known fact.
Both are correct, but `Бил съм` is more common because Bulgarian often puts the participle first in short sentences to avoid starting with the auxiliary.
No, for things that started in the past and are still happening, Bulgarian usually uses the Present Tense with a time expression (e.g., `Живея тук от пет години`).
It's about aspect. `Съм писал` means 'I have been writing/I have written (experience)', while `Съм написал` means 'I have finished writing (result)'.
Put 'не' at the beginning: `Не си ли чул?` (Haven't you heard?).
Yes, it is very common in formal reports and news to describe recent events or established facts.
It depends on the verb group. First and second conjugation verbs usually end in -ил (говорил) or -ял (видял), while third conjugation verbs end in -ал (чакал).
