B1 Passive & Reported Speech 1 min read آسان

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Reported questions turn a direct question into a statement by using 'wa' (that) or 'tham wa' (asked that).

  • Use 'tham wa' to introduce the question: 'Lao tham wa...' (He asked that...)
  • Remove the question particle 'bo' from the original sentence.
  • Keep the original tense and pronouns as they were in the direct speech.
Subject + tham wa + [Original Question without 'bo']

Meanings

This grammar is used to report what someone else asked without using direct quotation marks.
