Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Turn any statement into a question simply by adding the suffix '-aa' to the end of the sentence.

  • Attach '-aa' to the end of the final word: 'Idi pustakam' (This is a book) -> 'Idi pustakamaa?' (Is this a book?)
  • The vowel sound at the end of the word usually lengthens to accommodate the suffix.
  • No change in word order is required; the suffix does all the heavy lifting.
Statement + aa? = Question

Meanings

The suffix '-aa' acts as a question marker, equivalent to the English 'Do/Is/Are' at the start of a sentence.
