The 'ñ' is not an 'n'. Make sure you press the middle of your tongue against the roof of your mouth to get that 'ny' sound. Practice with 'baño', 'niño', and 'España'.
Remember the Contraction
When going 'to the' bathroom, always use 'al baño'. Avoid saying 'a el baño', as it sounds unnatural and is grammatically wrong.
Regional Awareness
If you are in Spain, use 'aseo' for public restrooms. If you are in Mexico, 'sanitario' is a very safe and polite choice.
The Bidet Factor
Don't be surprised to see a second, lower sink-like fixture in Spanish bathrooms. That's a bidet, used for personal hygiene.
