Estonian uses three distinct lengths for consonants: short, long, and overlong, which completely change the meaning of words.
- Short (Q1): A single consonant (e.g., 'kapa').
- Long (Q2): A double consonant (e.g., 'kappa').
- Overlong (Q3): A very long, emphasized consonant (e.g., 'kapppa').
