Navigating Space and Time

Hey there, friend! You've already learned so many basics and you're getting comfortable speaking Persian. Good for you! Now, we're going to take another step forward and learn to talk in a way that makes it seem like you can see and plan everything precisely. In this chapter, you'll learn how to accurately say something is in (dar), on (rū), or under (zīr) something else. For example,

the book is on the table

or

the cat is under the bed.

Just remember that «rū» and zīr connect to their nouns with a tiny Ezafe. Plus, you'll learn how to use «bā» (with) and bedūn-e (without) to talk about who was with you or what you didn't have, like

I went to the cafe with my friends

or "I can't wake up without coffee." Don't forget that bedūn-e also needs an Ezafe! Want to know

(az... tā...) something is? Or say

what something is for

(barā-ye)? For instance,

I have class from Saturday to Tuesday

or

this gift is for you.

You can even arrange your plans precisely with before and after (ghabl az / ba'd az), like

I exercise before work.

• फ़ारसी स्थान शब्द: में, पर, नीचे (dar, rū, zīr)

  तुम्हारे पास तीन ज़रूरी शब्द हैं: «در» किसी जगह के लिए, «روی» किसी सतह के लिए, और «زیر» किसी चीज़ के नीचे के लिए। याद रखना, «روی» और «زیر» को noun से जोड़ने के लिए «एज़ाफ़े» (-ए/-ये) लगाना पड़ता है।
• साथ और बिना का जादू: 'Bā' बनाम 'Bedūn'

  तुम्हारे पास दो जादुई शब्द हैं: «با» (साथ) चीज़ों को जोड़ता है और «بدونِ» (बिना) अनुपस्थिति बताता है। याद रखना, «بدونِ» के साथ '-ए' कनेक्टर बहुत ज़रूरी है।
• फ़ारसी रेंज: से... तक... (az... tā...)

  तुम्हारे पास एक जादुई सैंडविच स्ट्रक्चर है: 'az [शुरुआत] tā [अंत]'। इससे तुम समय, जगह या मात्रा की सीमा बता सकते हो।
• 'barā-ye' (کے لیے) के साथ उद्देश्य व्यक्त करना

  किसी के लिए या किसी मकसद के लिए कुछ करना हो, तो बस barā-ye का इस्तेमाल करो। बोलचाल में इसे vāse या barā-yam भी कहते हैं।
• फ़ारसी समय पूर्वसर्ग: पहले और बाद में (ghabl az / ba'd az)

  बस ghabl az (पहले) और "ba'd az" (बाद) को याद रखो, ये तुम्हारी डेली रूटीन बताने के लिए सबसे ज़रूरी टूल्स हैं।
• फ़ारसी आदतें: हमेशा, आमतौर पर, कभी नहीं (hamisheh, ma'mūlan)

  क्रिया-विशेषण को कर्ता के बाद रखो, और याद रखो कि 'hargez' (कभी नहीं) के साथ हमेशा नकारात्मक क्रिया ही आती है। ये तीन शब्द 'hamisheh', 'ma'mūlan', 'hargez' तुम्हारी फ़ारसी को और मज़बूत करेंगे!
