Future Tense I (Futur Prvi): Formation with 'Htjeti'
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use the auxiliary verb 'htjeti' (to want/will) plus the infinitive of your main verb to talk about the future.
- Use short forms (ću, ćeš, će, ćemo, ćete, će) for standard affirmative sentences: 'Ja ću raditi' (I will work).
- Place the short form before the infinitive: 'On će doći' (He will come).
- For negatives, add 'ne-' to the start of the auxiliary: 'Neću raditi' (I will not work).

Meanings
The Future Tense I is the most common way to express future actions in Croatian. It is formed by combining the enclitic (short) form of the auxiliary verb 'htjeti' with the infinitive of the main verb.
