Accusative with Proper Nouns

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

When a proper noun is the direct object of a sentence, add a '-t' to the end of the name.

  • Add '-t' to names ending in a consonant: Péter -> Pétert.
  • Add '-t' to names ending in a vowel: Anna -> Annát (vowels often lengthen).
  • If the name already ends in a vowel, it usually becomes long: Zsuzsa -> Zsuzsát.
