文化的背景

In Laos, showing interest in someone's family or health is a prerequisite for business. You don't just 'get to the point'; you show 'Son Chai' in their life first. Because the languages are so similar, 'Son Chai' works perfectly in Thailand too. However, Thais might use 'Krap/Ka' at the end for politeness, whereas Lao use 'Derr' or 'By'. In Hmong culture within Laos, interest is often shown through actions rather than just words. However, when speaking Lao, Hmong speakers use 'Son Chai' frequently to bridge the cultural gap. Due to colonial history, some older Lao might use French structures, but 'Son Chai' has remained the dominant indigenous way to express interest.
