Use the Armenian Imperfect to describe background actions, habits, or settings while the main story happens in the Aorist.
- Use for ongoing background actions: 'Ես կարդում էի' (I was reading).
- Use for past habits: 'Մենք ամեն օր քայլում էինք' (We used to walk every day).
- Use for descriptions: 'Օրը շատ գեղեցիկ էր' (The day was very beautiful).

Meanings
The imperfective aspect in Armenian describes actions that were in progress, habitual, or descriptive in the past.
Ongoing Action
Action in progress at a specific past moment.
“Անձրև էր գալիս։”

Past Habit
Repeated actions in the past.
“Մենք ամեն ամառ գնում էինք գյուղ։”

Description
Describing states or qualities in the past.
