Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

In Azerbaijani, you show ownership by adding a specific suffix to the end of the noun you own.

  • Use -im/-ım/-um/-üm for 'my' (e.g., kitabım - my book).
  • Use -in/-ın/-un/-ün for 'your' (e.g., kitabın - your book).
  • Use -i/-ı/-u/-ü for 'his/her/its' (e.g., kitabı - his/her book).
Noun + Suffix = Ownership (e.g., Ev + im = Evim)

Meanings

Possessive suffixes indicate the owner of an object. They attach directly to the noun being possessed.
