Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Bulgarian commands, use Imperfective for habits and 'don't' sentences, and Perfective for specific, one-time results you want achieved now.
- Use Imperfective for ongoing or repeated actions: 'Пиши всеки ден!' (Write every day!)
- Use Perfective for completed, one-time results: 'Напиши домашното!' (Finish the homework!)
- Always use Imperfective for negative commands (prohibitions): 'Не пиши!' (Don't write!)

Smart Tips
Always use the plural imperfective 'Влизайте!', even if it's just one friend. It sounds much warmer.
Stick to the Perfective aspect for every step to show that each action must be finished before the next.
Immediately look for the longer verb form (imperfective). It's a nearly universal rule.
Use the Perfective aspect and keep it short. 'Виж!' is much more urgent than 'Гледай!'.
Pronúncia
Stress on -и/-ите
In many imperative forms, the stress shifts to the ending.

Perfective is for the Prize (the result), Imperfective is for the In-progress (the process) or the 'No-no' (negative).
Associação visual
Imagine a Perfective command as a trophy at the finish line. Imagine an Imperfective command as a treadmill that keeps going or a big red 'X' over an action.
Rhyme
If you want it done and through, Perfective is the one for you. If you want to say 'don't start', Imperfective plays its part.
Story
A boss tells an employee 'Работи!' (Work! - Imperfective) all day. At 5 PM, he says 'Свърши това!' (Finish this! - Perfective). When the employee tries to leave early, the boss shouts 'Не си тръгвай!' (Don't leave! - Imperfective).

Desafio
Look around your room. Give yourself 3 commands in the Perfective (e.g., 'Clean the desk!') and 3 negative commands in the Imperfective (e.g., 'Don't touch the phone!').
Notas culturais
Bulgarians use the imperfective imperative ('Заповядайте, хапвайте!') to show that the guest is welcome to take their time. Using the perfective can make a guest feel rushed.
Parents often use the perfective for immediate obedience ('Изяж го!'), but switch to imperfective for long-term discipline ('Слушай майка си!').
Signs in Bulgaria use the negative imperfective for prohibitions, making them sound like permanent rules.
Bulgarian aspect is a core feature of Slavic languages, evolving from Proto-Slavic distinctions between completed and ongoing actions.
