Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Kazakh uses suffixes instead of prepositions to show where you are or where you are coming from.

  • Use -да/-де/-та/-те for location (at/in): Үйде (at home).
  • Use -дан/-ден/-тан/-тен for origin (from): Үйден (from home).
  • Suffix choice depends on the last letter of the word (vowel harmony).
Noun + Suffix = Location/Origin

Meanings

These suffixes replace English prepositions like 'in', 'at', and 'from' by attaching directly to the noun.

1

2

“Мен үйден шықтым (I left from home)”
