Proper nouns are specific names for people, places, or unique entities and must always start with a capital letter in Kazakh.

  • Names of people always start with a capital letter: 'Ахмет'.
  • Geographical names start with a capital letter: 'Алматы'.
  • Proper nouns take suffixes after an apostrophe if they are foreign or specific: 'Алматы'да'.
