Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Swahili, you negate verbs by changing the subject prefix or adding a negative marker before the verb root.
- For 'I', use 'si-' instead of 'ni-': 'Sichezi' (I am not playing).
- For 'You' (singular), use 'hu-' instead of 'u-': 'Huendi' (You are not going).
- For other subjects, use 'ha-' + subject prefix: 'Hatasoma' (He/she will not read).
