Guests arriving from a 'shori gza' are often given the 'head of the table' or special attention because the journey through the mountains was historically arduous. In many fairy tales, the hero must cross 'ცხრა მთა და ცხრა ზღვა' (nine mountains and nine seas), which is the ultimate 'shori gza'. In Tbilisi, people often complain about the 'shori gza' to the suburbs like Varketili or Gldani due to traffic, even if the distance isn't objectively huge. Walking to holy sites like Mtskheta or Bodbe is considered a 'shori gza' that cleanses the soul.
