Erros comuns

Using 'ແຕ່ວ່າ' (but) is too informal for a C1 debate. Use 'ເຖິງຢ່າງໃດກໍຕາມ' to sound more professional and academic.

Wrong: ຂ້ອຍຢາກເວົ້າ ແຕ່ວ່າ ມັນຍາກ. (I want to speak but it's hard.)
Correto: ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າຢາກສະແດງຄວາມຄິດເຫັນ ເຖິງຢ່າງໃດກໍຕາມ ມັນມີຄວາມທ້າທາຍ. (I would like to express my opinion; nevertheless, it is challenging.)

In formal written Lao, a slight pause or comma (though commas are rare in Lao, a space is required) must follow these long logical connectors to separate the transition from the main clause.

Wrong: ຍ້ອນເຫດນັ້ນ ພວກເຮົາຕ້ອງໄປ. (For that reason we must go. - lacking comma)
Correto: ຍ້ອນເຫດນັ້ນ, ພວກເຮົາຕ້ອງໄປ. (For that reason, we must go.)

Confusing 'In conclusion' with 'First of all'. 'ສະຫຼຸບແລ້ວ' must only be used for the final summary of your argument.

Wrong: ສະຫຼຸບແລ້ວ... (Used at the start of a speech)
Correto: ກ່ອນອື່ນໝົດ... (Used at the start of a speech)
