I mean, I went to a few of those readings.
I didn't read there,
but they were pretty, pretty often.
And I did plays there.
Did you ever do a play down there?
- Once. - In the cafes?
- Well, this place called Bastiano's Cellar
was near NYU, right on Waverly Place.
- Right.
I did one at Caffe Cino. - Caffe Cino, yeah.
- You know, Phase Two.
That's a place that Woody Allen used to,
he would do The Bitter End.

- Yeah.
- A lot of that stuff.
The cafes were great,
because you would do 16 performances a week of a play.
And after each performance, we'd pass the hat around.
- That many performances, 16? - Yes, 16.
- Jesus, wow.
How long was a play?
- Well, they usually were short.
- Short plays, yeah. - Usually one act plays.
And they would pass the hat around and that's how we ate.
It was great.
I really miss them. [Robert laughing]

but for me, they were glorious.
I had a great time.
