أخطاء شائعة

In Lao, the noun must come first, followed by the number, and then the classifier. You cannot put the number first like in English.

Wrong: ສອງຄົນນັກຮຽນ (song khon nak hian)
صحيح: ນັກຮຽນສອງຄົນ (nak hian song khon)

The classifier 'khon' is strictly for humans. For animals, you must use 'toh'.

Wrong: ໝາສາມຄົນ (ma sam khon)
صحيح: ໝາສາມໂຕ (ma sam toh)

You cannot omit the classifier when counting. Saying 'House four' is incomplete; you must say 'House four [unit]'.

Wrong: ເຮືອນສີ່ (heuan si)
