Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

In Romanian, you must use 'nu' before the verb even if you use other negative words like 'nimeni' or 'nimic'.

  • Always place 'nu' before the verb: 'Nu văd nimic' (I see nothing).
  • Negative words like 'nimeni' (nobody) don't replace 'nu': 'Nu vine nimeni' (Nobody is coming).
  • Multiple negatives are mandatory, not optional: 'Nu am văzut niciodată nimic' (I have never seen anything).
