Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Short pronouns (clitics) must cluster together before the verb, but they can NEVER start a sentence.
- Never start a sentence with a clitic: 'Дадох му го' (I gave it to him), not 'Му го дадох'.
- Dative always comes before Accusative: 'Дай ми го' (Give it to me).
- The auxiliary 'е' (is) always moves to the very end of the clitic chain.

Smart Tips
Check if it's a short form. If it is, swap it with the verb immediately.
Say the pronouns first, then 'е', then the verb.
Use the dative clitic after the noun instead of a possessive adjective.
The 'не' acts like a magnet that pulls all clitics to the front of the verb.

Clitic Stress
Clitics never have their own stress. They 'glue' to the verb. 'Виждам го' is pronounced as one word: VEE-zhdam-go.
The 'ѝ' sound
The feminine dative clitic 'ѝ' is pronounced like a short 'i' (y), distinct from 'и' (and).
Enclitic Fall
Кажи ми! (↘)
The pitch drops on the clitic at the end of an imperative.

D-A-V-E: Dative, Accusative, Verb, and then 'E' (the 3rd person 'is').
تداعی تصویری
Imagine a train where the Engine (the Verb) usually pulls the cars (clitics), but if a big Station (the Subject) is there, the cars must line up in front of the Engine in a specific order.
Rhyme
Dative first and then the rest, / Put the 'е' where it fits best (at the end!).
Story
The Dative clitic is the older brother who always gets to go first. The Accusative is the younger sister who follows. They both want to see the Verb (the movie), but they are too shy to stand at the front of the line alone.

Look at 5 items around you. Say 'I see it' (Виждам го) for each, then 'I don't see it' (Не го виждам). Notice how 'го' moves!
نکات فرهنگی
Using the plural 'ви' (you) even for one person in formal settings is mandatory. This applies to clitics too: 'Ще Ви се обадя' (I will call You).
In some Western dialects (Sofia/Pernik), people might say 'че' instead of 'ще' or use 'ме' instead of 'ми' in certain possessive contexts, but this is non-standard.
In texting, Bulgarians often omit the subject and start with the verb to keep clitics in the enclitic position, making the text shorter.
Bulgarian clitics are remnants of the complex Proto-Slavic case system, which collapsed into a more analytic structure similar to English or Romance languages.

In standard Bulgarian, absolutely not. It's the most recognizable error a foreigner can make. Always put a word (even just 'Аз') before it, or put the clitic after the verb.
It's a historical linguistic quirk. While most forms of 'to be' are proclitic (come before), 'е' became enclitic to the pronoun chain. Just remember: 'съм' leads, 'е' follows.
The particle 'ли' usually follows the verb, and the clitics follow 'ли'. Example: `Даде ли му го?`.
'Ми' is the short (clitic) form, used for 90% of situations. 'На мен' is the long form, used after prepositions or for strong emphasis.
Use 'се' for direct reflexive actions (I wash myself - `Мия се`). Use 'си' for actions done for oneself or with one's own things (I wash my hands - `Мия си ръцете`).
Yes, this is called 'clitic doubling'. You might say `Иван го видях` (Ivan, I saw him). It helps focus the sentence on Ivan.
The order is: `не` + `ще` + pronouns + verb. Example: `Не ще ти го дам` (though `Няма да ти го дам` is more common).
The internal order of clitics (Dat + Acc) stays the same, but you must account for the auxiliary verb 'съм/е' as discussed.
