कॉल एंड करूँ?

You say this at the very end of a conversation. It usually follows a brief silence or after you have finished your main topic. The word करूँ (karoon) makes it a question. Your voice should go up slightly at the end. It is much softer than just hanging up. Nobody likes being cut off mid-sentence!

Use it when you are talking to a friend and things get quiet. Use it when you are on a work call and the agenda is finished. It is perfect for those long late-night chats where you are both sleepy. It is also great for checking if someone is busy. If you hear background noise, ask कॉल एंड करूँ? to be polite. It shows you are a thoughtful communicator.

Do not use this with your boss in a very strict setting. In those cases, use more formal Hindi like क्या मैं कॉल समाप्त कर सकता हूँ?. Avoid using it if the other person is clearly in the middle of a story. It might sound like you are bored. Also, do not use it if you are the one who needs to leave urgently. In that case, give a reason first.

Modern India loves 'Hinglish'. This phrase is a perfect example of that blend. In the past, people used pure Hindi words for 'end' like समाप्त (samapt). Now, 'end' and 'cut' are much more common in cities. It reflects the fast-paced, tech-savvy culture of young Indians today. It bridges the gap between traditional politeness and modern efficiency.

You might hear कॉल काटूँ? (Call katooon?). This literally means 'Should I cut the call?'. It is a bit more informal. Another one is रखूँ? (Rakhoon?), which means 'Should I put [the phone] down?'. If you want to be more formal, you can add क्या (Kya) at the start: क्या मैं कॉल एंड करूँ?. But in daily life, the short version is king.
