SQL. It's more than an injection outta here.

00:03

It's the love language of our databases. You know,

00:05

the massive Excel spreadsheets that run the world.

00:08

You need to learn SQL probably right now,

00:10

especially if you want this job or this job,

00:13

or this job are pretty much any job in it.

00:15

And it's a skill I've actually had to use a lot, almost too much, too much more.

00:19

My comfort. Cameron, have you had to use SQL? Yeah.

00:22

Whenever I was a AWS cloud engineer, I dealt with databases all the time.

00:25

So whether you're an aspiring hacker looking to do some SQL injections,

00:28

get outta here,

00:29

or you're a cloud engineer wanting to query all your qualms away.

00:33

See that 10 times fast query all your qualms away query. I can't do it one time,

00:36

two times. Oh my gosh.

00:37

This is definitely a skill you want to add to your toolbox right now.

00:41

Now before you freak out, we're not going too deep here.

00:43

You don't need to become a SQL expert unless you wanna become a DBA or

00:47

something. You pour brave, stupid soul, but you're making bank and you're rich.

00:51

But knowing the basics like, Hey,

00:52

what even is a database that goes a long way in pretty much every area of it.

00:56

So in this video, I'm going to teach you SQL,

00:59

not too much like a Goldilocks amount of sequel,

01:01

just enough to make you dangerous, but not too dangerous.

01:04

I don't want you dropping elbows on some poor unsuspecting tables.

01:07

So by the end of this video, you will know how to create your own,

01:10

my sequel or my SQL database.

01:12

And you're gonna add some stuff into it or remove some stuff, query some things.

01:16

So get your coffee ready. Mine is right here and let's learn some sequel.

01:23

Now while you're sipping that coffee, getting all fueled up,

01:25

ready to go to learn some sequel. Let me tell you a scary story.

01:27

Did you know that your usernames and your passwords they're often stored inside

01:32

a sequel database and sometimes these databases spring a leak,

01:35

spilling your username and password all over the dark web David Bumble.

01:39

I'm disappointed. You gotta protect yourself.

01:41

This is where our sponsor Dashlane comes in.

01:44

Dashlane does a great job at protecting you from yourself. Come on John Hammond.

01:48

I love their password health feature, which obviously I got some work to do.

01:52

I got 28 compromised passwords and two weak ones, no weakness allowed.

01:56

And I also love their dark web monitoring,

01:57

cuz I wasn't kidding these databases full of your passwords and emails and all

02:01

kinds of stuff. Get hacked and leaked all the time in the dark web.

02:03

They monitor that stuff for you. And they'll tell you, Hey,

02:06

change your day and password.

02:07

And then right here is my favorite feature of Dashlane.

02:09

It's got two factor built right into it.

02:11

So it'll log into network Chuck academy. I've got my security code right here.

02:14

Oh, don't copy that. Nah, it's gonna change.

02:16

So I pretty much use Dashlane for everything, including my business.

02:19

I force all of my employees to use Dashlane cuz they're crazy.

02:23

And they still write their passwords down on post-it notes. Come on.

02:25

So if you have a business use Dashlane, they've got a great admin section,

02:28

little admin console where you can manage all your passwords for your employees.

02:32

Gotta keep them suckers in line. And it's not just passwords.

02:35

You can put secure notes. You can put your payments in here.

02:37

I use this all the time. It makes paying for things so much easier.

02:41

So don't let someone else's bad database put you at risk.

02:45

Get yourself the password manager.

02:46

I recommend Dashlane go out to dashlane.com/network Chuck 50.

02:50

And you do get a discount. Let me double check what that is. I forgot. Oh sweet.

02:54

You get 50% off. So use that code.

02:56

You can use it on pretty much any device you have, which I do on every device.

03:01

Thank you to Dashlane for sponsoring this video. Now let's get back to SQL.

03:04

Here we go. So SQL or SQL,

03:07

it stands for structured query language.

03:10

Focus on that term language because it is kind of like a programming language,

03:14

similar to Python, except the primary use of SQL is to talk to databases.

03:18

I told you it's their love language. They love it. That's my database.

03:22

By the way, I'm gonna label it using this query language.

03:25

We'll talk to our database. We'll create things. We'll read things.

03:28

We'll update things. We'll delete things. Crud. You've heard a crud, right?

03:31

Well you just did. So here we go. We are gonna learn some sequel here in a bit.

03:35

But first let's talk about what's a database I joked earlier how it's just one

03:40

big giant Excel spreadsheet. That's kind of true.

03:42

You've probably seen an Excel spreadsheet before, right?

03:45

It has columns or fields.

03:47

It has rows or we might call those records and these rows or records contain our

03:52

data. And while Excel might work for carrying the accountant,

03:54

keeping track of your budget,

03:56

you bought 45 raspberry pies for bigger sets of data.

03:59

Like websites might have companies, even network Chuck coffee.

04:02

They won't store these in Excel.

04:03

They'll store them inside a database which will function very similarly to an

04:07

Excel spreadsheet. Cuz we're still working with this, which we'll call a table,

04:11

but we might need more than one and we might need a lot more data.

04:14

So in my network, Chuck coffee database,

04:16

I might have three Excel spreadsheets or three tables, one for all my customers,

04:20

which did you know that Marvel characters love my coffee.

04:23

Thor can't get enough of the help desk. He loves it.

04:26

And they don't have a table of all the coffees I offer.
