Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use the subjunctive with 'să' after verbs of doubt or negative belief to show you aren't 100% certain.
- Trigger with doubt verbs like 'a se îndoi' (to doubt). Example: Mă îndoiesc să vină.
- Use after negative 'a crede' (to not believe). Example: Nu cred să fie adevărat.
- Keep the 'să' particle and change the 3rd person verb ending. Example: El să meargă.

Meanings
The Subjunctive of Doubt is used in subordinate clauses to express uncertainty, skepticism, or the speaker's refusal to vouch for the reality of an action.
Direct Doubt
Used after verbs like 'a se îndoi' (to doubt) or 'a pune la îndoială' (to question).
“Mă îndoiesc să poată termina la timp.”
“Ea se îndoiește că noi să știm totul.”
Negative Belief
Used after 'nu cred' (I don't believe) or 'nu mi se pare' (it doesn't seem to me).
“Nu cred să vină ploaia astăzi.”

Improbability
Used with impersonal expressions indicating low probability.

Learners use the same form for 'I want' and 'I doubt', which is correct, but the triggers are different.

Try replacing 'că' with 'să' and changing the verb ending to sound more like a native speaker.
Always remember 'fie'. It's the most common subjunctive form in the language.
Think of the opposite vowel. If the normal verb ends in 'e', use 'ă'. If it ends in 'ă', use 'e'.
Don't conjugate! Just use 'să fi' + participle for everyone.
