si (सी) कहा जाता है, जिसका हिंदी में मतलब होता है 'अगर' या 'यदि'। देखो, जब हम कहते हैं, «अगर बारिश हुई, तो मैं घर पर रहूँगा,» तो हम एक शर्त (condition) रख रहे हैं। यह हमारी रोज़मर्रा की बातचीत का आधार है। हिंदी में हम इसे 'अगर... तो...' के स्ट्रक्चर से समझते हैं। फ्रेंच में भी यह बिल्कुल वैसा ही है, बस कुछ छोटे-छोटे नियम हैं जिन्हें हमें ध्यान में रखना है।si का उपयोग करना बहुत ही लॉजिकल है। हिंदी व्याकरण में हम इसे 'सशर्त वाक्य' (Conditional sentence) कहते हैं। जब हम A1 लेवल पर होते हैं, तो हम केवल 'Present Tense' (वर्तमान काल) का इस्तेमाल करते हैं। इसका मतलब है कि अगर आप 'Condition' (शर्त) बता रहे हैं, तो आप 'Present Tense' का ही उपयोग करेंगे, और उसके 'Result' (परिणाम) में भी 'Present Tense' का ही उपयोग करेंगे।si + Present = Present (या Imperative/आदेश) का नियम चलता है।Si tu as faim, tu manges.
