allegory（寓話・比喩物語）と analogy（類推・アナロジー）です。日本語ではどちらも「比喩」や「たとえ」という言葉で一括りにされがちですが、英語ではその「規模」と「目的」において明確に使い分けられています。analogy は、複雑な概念や未知の事柄を説明するために、既知の事柄との「共通点」を引き合いに出す論理的なツールです。例えば、「脳はコンピュータのようなものだ」という説明は、脳の機能を理解しやすくするための analogy です。一方、allegory は、物語全体が別の大きな意味（道徳的、政治的、宗教的なメッセージ）を象徴している物語構造そのものを指します。ジョージ・オーウェルの『動物農場（Animal Farm）』が、単なる動物の反乱の物語ではなく、ロシア革命の allegory であることは有名です。analogy の核心は「関係性の類似」にあります。単に A と B が似ていると言うだけでなく、「A と B の関係は、C と D の関係と同じである」という論理を展開します。日本語で言うところの「A を B に例える」という行為に近いですが、より説明的で論理的なニュアンスが強いです。- 論理構造:
