In Korea, '관심' is a social currency. Being noticed is often a sign of success, but '관심종자' (attention seeker) is a derogatory slang term for those who crave it too much. Similar to Korea, there is a strong emphasis on not standing out too much, yet marketing uses '関心を引く' aggressively. In American culture, 'grabbing attention' is seen as a necessary skill for self-promotion and individual success. French culture values 'distinction' but often prefers it to be subtle rather than loud.
