Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Burmese, location words come AFTER the object, not before it.
- Use 'ဘေးနားမှာ' (be-na-hma) for 'next to'. Example: 'အိမ် ဘေးနားမှာ' (next to the house).
- Use 'ကြားမှာ' (kya-hma) for 'between'. Example: 'အိမ် နှစ်လုံး ကြားမှာ' (between two houses).
- Always place the location marker after the noun it describes.

Meanings
These postpositions define the relative spatial orientation of an object in relation to another reference point.
Proximity
Being physically adjacent or near to an object.
“သူငယ်ချင်း ဘေးနားမှာ ထိုင်ပါ။”
“ကား ဘေးနားမှာ ရပ်ပါ။”
Interposition
Being located in the space separating two or more objects.
“အိမ် နှစ်လုံး ကြားမှာ သစ်ပင် ရှိတယ်။”
