Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use this when you didn't see the action yourself but are reporting what someone else told you.
- Use the L-participle of the verb (like the past tense). Example: `четял`.
- Add the verb `съм` (to be) for 1st and 2nd persons. Example: `аз съм четял`.
- CRITICAL: Drop the auxiliary `е` or `са` in the 3rd person! Example: `той четял` (not `той е четял`).

Because in Bulgarian, the presence of 'е' or 'са' in the 3rd person signals the Perfect tense (witnessed or resultative). Dropping it is the specific grammatical marker for 'I am reporting what I heard'.
No. If you saw it, use the Indicative (e.g., `Той дойде`). Using the renarrative for witnessed events sounds like you are lying or have lost your memory.
Yes, in Bulgarian, these two often merge into one form using the imperfect L-participle (e.g., `пишел`). It covers both 'they say he writes' and 'they say he was writing'.
You use the renarrative of the future: `Той щял да дойде`. 'Щял' is the L-participle of 'ще'.
No. Russian, Polish, and Czech do not have a specific renarrative mood. They use words like 'мол' or 'якобы' or reported speech constructions.
