Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Czech consonants are divided into three groups—Hard, Soft, and Neutral—which dictate how you spell and conjugate words.
- Hard consonants (e.g., h, ch, k, r, d, t, n) usually take 'y' endings.
- Soft consonants (e.g., ž, š, č, ř, c, j) usually take 'i' endings.
- Neutral consonants (e.g., b, f, l, m, p, s, v, z) can take either 'i' or 'y' depending on the word.
