hématome
When you bump into something hard, sometimes you get an hématome. This is the medical term for what most people call a bruise. It's that dark, discolored spot on your skin that appears after an injury, caused by blood vessels breaking and blood collecting under the skin. So, if you hear someone say they have an hématome, they're probably talking about a bruise they got. It’s a good word to know for describing everyday injuries.
