Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Distinguish between 'we' that includes the listener (Kita) and 'we' that excludes the listener (Kami).
- Use 'Kita' when you and the listener are both included in the action. Example: Kita makan (We eat).
- Use 'Kami' when you are talking about 'we' but the listener is NOT included. Example: Kami pergi (We go).
- If you are unsure, 'Kita' is often used in general statements or to be polite.
